Tomorrow, I’m on tap to do 11 miles on my long run. I must say, that I haven’t done that many miles in a LR since the Mercedes back in February of this year. Will it be easy? Probably not, but it has to get done. My current running buddy, Dena, runs significantly faster than I do, but we still manage to hook up somewhere in the run. Sure I want to run faster, but I’m still aware of the importance of taking my time, building it up slowly and letting happen…naturally. I’ll get there one day. I’d like to continue to enjoy running without having to worry about things like pace, time, speed, etc., etc. That takes all of the fun out of it.
An 11-miler LR is not toooo much to worry with, since I have done it before. But when you haven’t done it in a while, you do need to take it s-l-o-w and listen to your body. Many runners can bust out 11, 15 or even 20 with no problem, but I’m still a slightly new runner (3 years) and a *little* older to just be starting out, so listening to my body is a must-do.
Today, I’m planning on drinking LOTS of water, getting in a nap (possible?) and eating clean as opposed to carbing up. I’ll keep you posted.
Happy Running!
